"The International Diversity Experiment Network with Trees (IDENT) is a network of Biodiversity - Ecosystem Functioning (BEF) experiments in North America and Europe."
The experiments in Montreal and Freiburg, where the data original come from, are focused on early growth stages development. More precise, the fathers of the network were interested in functional diversity, influences of stress, impacts of water availability and nutrient needs. For my personal research I used volume, density, height, root collar diameter and biomass outcome to compare biomass equations and discover over yield effects. 415 plots with 49 trees each were planted in 2013, 45 cm apart. In Freiburg 12 species were used. Six North American and six European species. Each tree species were planted in monoculture and in two-, four- and six species mixtures in various diversity levels. Every mixture was repeated four times with and without fertilizer. Measurements for density and biomass were made as mentioned above. For my research I focused on the results without fertilizer.
